She often walks the lakeside and, to be honest, she often pretends the same thing.

It doesn't really work, but it's nice to pretend.

Sometimes Caspian walks with her, and sometimes she walks alone, and it's the latter that Lucy is doing today.

The lakeside is only so big, so it's inevitable that two people walking along it will run into each other eventually.

Norrington nods a greeting to her, with a half-bow.

Lucy smiles, faintly, at him, and nods in return. If she'd worn a skirt, there'd be a curtsey, or at least the hint of one, as well. As it is, she merely says, "Good day, sir," and makes the smile a little wider after a moment.

"And to you, miss." There's a pause, while he seems to hunt for more pleasantries, then, "It's a fine day for a walk."

"It is," she agrees. "Though it soon will be a bit cool for one."

"That is a problem with this place", he says, shooting a considering look at the ship on the lake. "Especially when you're used to warmer climes."

"Aye. Or even if you simply prefer them. Lucy Pevensie," she adds, after a moment, and follows his gaze to the ship.

"James Norrington", he says with another small bow. "Pleased to meet you."

"The same, I'm quite certain. Are you one used to a warmer climate, then, Mr. Norrington?"

"Very much so", he says with a rueful half-smile. "I came in here from the Caribbean, after living there for... oh, at least ten years."

"Good Lord," she says, a bit blankly. "And now you'll have a Scottish winter. I'm sorry."

He laughs a little, though nothing's really funny.

"At least I have a heated room to take refuge in."

"There's that. Are you Bound, then?"

"For the time being, yes. With any luck, perhaps I'll even be allowed to leave before winter."

"Mayhap. I shall hope you can, anyway. Not that I'm finding your company unpleasant, mind," she adds with a smile.

"Oh, likewise." He returns the smile. "But being confined... does grate, rather."

"I do understand," she says ruefully, and bends to pick up a stone, skipping it across the water.

"Have you been here long?"

"...almost two months now, I believe. The time blurs, after a while."

"It does. The nature of this place. Have you found things to occupy yourself with, at least?"

"Oh, yes, that I do have. Helping Captain Sparrow repair his ship, among other things."

Nothing but neutrality in his voice.

"Is he a friend of yours, then?" Her voice is pleased.

Lucy likes Jack Sparrow, really.

"An acquaintance, certainly. And one who allows me to work on his ship."

Maybe, once, they might have been friends of a sort. Maybe.

"He's a queer sort, isn't he? Though I like him rather well."

"Most people seem to", he observes neutrally.

She smiles, a little, and tilts her head to study him.

"And you?"
